On August 13, 2020 the DCZ S&T organized a workshop for research coordinators of German research institutes affiliated to the German Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL), Leibniz institutes and departments for agriculture sciences of German universities and universities of applied sciences.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the results of a baseline study on Sino-German cooperation in agricultural sciences which had been conducted by DCZ consultant Dr. Rita Merkle and discuss the study’s recommendations for the DCZ S&T platform. The workshop was attended by 21 participants representing institutes and related institutions such the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), GFA as well as DCZ.
After DCZ science advisor Dr. Eva Sternfeld opened the workshop with an introduction to DCZ recent activities in the field of agricultural sciences, a welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Maja Clausen from BMEL, Division research and innovation. After these remarks DCZ consultant Dr. Rita Merkle presented the main findings of the baseline study which has been conducted in February and March 2020. In all, 21 German institutions participated in the survey and according to the quantitative survey 122 ongoing cooperation projects have been identified so far. Dr. Merkle’s presentation was followed by a vivid discussion and exchange on future perspectives of collaboration. In addition, Dr. Strowa from DAAD scholarship programme for Asia Pacific informed about a planned PHD exchange programme in agricultural sciences.
