From 24 to 25 September 2024, DCZ Head of Science Dialogue Eva Sternfeld participated in a seminar and field study on “Rural Revitalization and Technical Approaches for Regional Circular Economy” in West Coast District of Qingdao, Shandong Province.
The seminar was organized by the Center for Land Research of the Trier University for Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Qingdao Center for Industry and Commerce. The International Investment Promotion of West Coast New District, Qingdao and the Haiqing Town Government of West Coast New District acted as co-organizers. The event was sponsored by the German Andrea von Braun Foundation.
On 24 September, participants had the opportunity to visit several projects in Haiqing Town, including a rural cooperative and a tea farm. Exchanges with local officials provided insights into rural revitalization strategies in China.
On the second day, experts from Chinese and German research institutions as well as practitioners from different disciplines presented their research and practical experiences on issues related to rural circular economy. Eva Sternfeld gave a presentation on the development and status of the German organic farming and food sector.
