Jelena Grosse-Bley

Since 2020, Jelena Grosse-Bley has been a PhD researcher at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She is also a Visiting Predoctoral Fellow in the Lise Meitner Research Group “China in the Global System of Science” at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science.

With a social science perspective, Jelena’s research focuses on climate change adaptation in agriculture in the People’s Republic of China, specifically examining rural meteorological services and crop plant breeding.

Jelena holds an MA in Modern East Asian Studies and an MSc in Environmental Management. She has spent several years studying and working in various locations across Greater China and was a lecturer and research affiliate at the China Studies Institute at Freie Universität Berlin from 2018 to 2021.
