Institute of Agro-product Safety and Nutrition (Zhejiang Inspection Test and Evaluation Center for Agro-product Quality and Safety)

The Institute of Agro-product Safety and Nutrition at Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ZAAS) was founded in 2002 and is dedicated to the research and services related to the quality, safety, and nutrition of agro-products. It is the earliest institution of its kind in China. The institute has 87 staff members and is well-known for its efforts in standard development, agricultural testing, and the evaluation of input applications.

The institute has established nine national and provincial innovation and service platforms, which cover agricultural testing standards, quality inspection, safety risk evaluation, and pesticide residue analysis, spanning all stages of production: pre-production, during production, and post-production.

In scientific innovation, the institute undertakes various national and provincial-level research projects, earning recognition through government and industry awards for its innovations. Additionally, it has contributed to the development of national and industrial standards. In terms of technology application, the institute provides vital services in testing agro-products, agricultural inputs, and production environments. It is also involved in pesticide registration trials, new chemical registrations, and the trial of pesticide efficacy. Moreover, it supports the standardized production of safe agro-products and quality control.

The institute is authorized to conduct trials related to the efficacy of registered pesticides, as well as product chemical composition, pesticide residue, and environmental impact assessments.
