Smart Agriculture is this year’s key topic in the DCZ Agricultural Policy Dialogue. Originally, a study visit on this subject to Germany and France was planned, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic a physical study visit had to be cancelled. Between June 24-26, the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) held its annual international conference focussing on the topic „Digital transformation – towards sustainable food value chains in Eurasia“. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year’s conference was held online. The event was attended by more than 400 participants from all over the world. The DCZ as well as representatives of institutes of the DCZ partner, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), actively contributed to the conference. [...]

On June 10, 2020 the DCZ S&T platform in cooperation with the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of CAAS successfully organised a workshop on Sino-German cooperation in agricultural sciences. Dr. Aihemaitijiang Rouzi, senior expert on agricultural sustainability from DCZ participated at the “2020 Tsinghua Forum on the Three Rural Issues” on January 4th which was organised by China Institute for Rural Studies of Tsinghua University. “Three Rural Issues” has been proposed by the former Chinese President Hu Jintao and refers to agriculture, rural areas and farmers. Ms. Karin Tränkner, DCZ Expert for the Agricultural Policy Dialogue attended the 14th International Symposium on Organic Food Market and Development and the 13th China International Organic Food Exposition (CIOFE) which were held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, from November 29 to December 1 and contributed by a presentation on “Organic Food Sector alongside the Value Chain in Germany”. The largest international animal husbandry industry exhibition in China, EuroTier China 2019 (China International Fair of Intensive Animal Husbandry) was held from 19 to 21 September 2019 in Qingdao, China. The fair and relevant academic events were jointly sponsored by the National Animal Husbandry Service (NAHS), China Feedstuff Industry Association (CFIA) and Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft (DLG).
