This study reviews the application of blockchain in China’s agricultural and food sector. Policy support to upgrade digital infrastructure and introduce the digital yuan have facilitated the expansion of blockchain technologies on Chinese farms. Currently, there are more than 500 blockchain initiatives underway throughout China.
The study introduces a number of succesful case studies such as GoGoChicken, a Huawei smart farm cloud platform, and looks at the opporunities and challenges shaping the expansion of blockchain technology in Chinese agriculture.
