Founded in 1957, the Academy of State Administration of Grain (ASAG) – 国家粮食局科学研究院 is the only non-profit research institution focused on post-harvest research and services, directly under the State Administration of Grain. ASAG’s primary mission is to conduct research and provide services in the grain science and technology field, including grain and oil purchase, storage, transportation, processing, quality control, and food safety.
The institute’s research areas include grain storage technology, grain logistical engineering, value-added processing technology, grain and oil nutrition, grain safety technology, detection technology, and standards development for grain and oil. ASAG consists of five research departments and a public research platform. It also manages the National Engineering Laboratory for Grain Storage and Logistics and the Testing Centre of Grain and Oil Quality Inspection of SAG.
ASAG has nine research groups focused on grain and oil storage technology, cereal chemistry and grain quality, grain value-added processing technology, fermentation and biotechnology, cereals and oils microbiology, cereals and oils quality safety testing technology, cereals and oils nutrition, and grain and oil testing.
