Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS)
Founded in 1957, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is China’s major research facility and think tank for agricultural sciences. With 34 institutes, 9 joint institutes in 19 provinces, 11,300 researchers and more than 5,000 graduate students, it covers the whole range of agricultural sciences. The CAAS features several national key laboratories, the national bank for long-term crop germplasm resources, and Asia’s largest agricultural library. It also maintains strong relationships with the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture Sciences (CATAS) and the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), as well as to the Provincial Academies of Agricultural Sciences and the agricultural universities.
