The Agricultural Product Processing Institute (APPRI) of CATAS – 农产品加工研究所 was founded in 1964 and is the only national scientific and technological research institute focused on the research and development of processing technology for tropical agricultural products, with a primary emphasis on natural rubber.
APPRI has 190 employees, including 84 senior scientists, and operates 10 national, ministerial, or provincial research and development platforms. The institute’s research areas include natural rubber processing and applications, food processing, and the quality and safety of agricultural products.
