The mission of the CAS Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Sciences (CEMPS) – 中国科学院植物生理生态研究所 is to advance knowledge of plants, microbes, and insects through innovative research, to train future scientists, and to address the needs of sustainable agriculture, ecological environments, bio-energy, and bio-manufacturing in China. Research areas include functional genomics, physiology, synthetic biology, developmental and evolutionary biology, and biotechnologies, using plants, microbes, and insects as model organisms.
As of 2020, CEMPS employs 413 staff, including 275 researchers and 55 support staff.
