Founded in 1957, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) – 中国农业科学院 is China’s leading research facility and think tank for agricultural sciences. It comprises 34 institutes and 9 joint institutes across 19 provinces, employing 11,300 researchers and over 5,000 graduate students.
CAAS covers a wide range of agricultural sciences and is home to several national key laboratories, the national bank for long-term crop germplasm resources, and Asia’s largest agricultural library. The Academy maintains strong relationships with the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS), the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), Provincial Academies of Agricultural Sciences, and agricultural universities.
