The Department of Nature and Ecology Conservation coordinates and supervises ecological conservation and restoration efforts, including wildlife preservation, wetland protection, desertification prevention, biodiversity conservation, and bio-safety. It operates the Secretariat of the China National Committee for Biodiversity Protection and the National Bio-Safety Management Office.
