The Department of Nature and Ecology Conservation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) coordinates and supervises ecological conservation and restoration efforts, including wildlife preservation, wetland protection, desertification prevention, biodiversity conservation, and bio-safety. It operates the Secretariat of the China National Committee for Biodiversity Protection and the National Bio-Safety Management Office.
