The Guangzhou Experimental Station (GES) of CATAS – 广州实验站 was established in 1958 and employs 30 staff members, including 7 senior scientists. The station focuses on ministerial and provincial research projects, particularly those related to cassava. It has developed several demonstration bases for new tropical varieties and technologies and has trained over 5,000 grassroots agricultural technicians.
Currently, a new 21-story institute building is under construction. This facility will house institutions such as the Tropical Energy Research Center and provide space for more than 700 scientists and graduate students.
