The Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (HVRI) – 哈尔滨兽医研 was founded in 1958 and was the first research institute for veterinary medicine in China. It focuses on applied and basic research for the prevention and control of animal infectious diseases. The institute has 566 staff members, including 80 senior researchers, and has developed 120 diagnostic reagents and vaccines to combat animal infectious diseases.
