The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) – 农产品加工研究所 was founded in 2003. It is the only national research institution focusing on agro-products processing and storage, quality and safety, nutrition and health, and intelligent manufacturing.
The Institute is home to nine research teams working on topics including:
- Cereal Processing and Quality Control
- Root and Tuber Crops Processing and Comprehensive Utilization
- Chinese Food Processing and Equipment
- Food Nutrition and Functional Component Utilization
- Applied Enzymology and Mycotoxin Prevention and Control in Agro-Products
In addition, the IFST hosts several national laboratories and centers, such as:
- National Key Laboratory of Agro-Products Processing of MARA
- National Pilot Plant of Agro-Products Processing of MARA
- National Risk Assessment Laboratory of Agro-Products Processing Quality and Safety of MARA
- Key Laboratory of Agro-Products Quality and Safety in Harvest, Storage, Transportation, Management, and Control of MARA
