The Institute of Tropical Bioscience and Biotechnology (TBBRI) of CATAS – 热带生物技术研究所 was established in 2003. The institute specializes in biological sciences and biotechnology research focusing on economically important tropical crops and bioresources. It has 200 employees, with 112 senior scientists. In addition to its research, TBBRI provides support for the cultivation and planting techniques of tropical crops such as sugarcane, papaya, galangal, and eaglewood.
