Founded in 2018, the Institute of Urban Agriculture (IUA) – 都市农业研究所 is a key supporting unit of the National Agricultural Science & Technology Center (NASC) in Chengdu, located in the Science City of the Tianfu New Area. IUA focuses on research in the following fields:
- Horticulture
- Agricultural engineering
- Agricultural robotics
- Plant photobiology
- Utilization of urban organic waste
- Plant functional genomics
- Biochemistry and molecular biology
- Human health
- Theory and planning of urban agriculture
The institute aims to become the world’s largest urban agricultural research institute by 2025.
