Established in 1981, the China National Rice Research Institute (CNRRI) – 中国水稻研究所 focuses on both basic and applied research, aiming to solve scientific and technical challenges in rice production. CNRRI places significant emphasis on rice genetic studies and genome research to improve yield, pest resistance, and stress tolerance. It also works on the conservation and utilization of rice germplasm resources and the development of environmentally friendly and cost-efficient cultivation technologies.
The institute cooperates with several international organizations, including FAO, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI).
