The Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute (ZFRI) – 郑州果树研究所 is a national research institute specializing in deciduous fruits and cucurbits (watermelon and melon). ZFRI focuses on fruit genetics and breeding, cultivation techniques, integrated pest management, postharvest research, and fruit quality and safety inspection.
The institute has 206 staff members, including 60 senior researchers, 170 hectares of experimental fields, and 15,000 square meters of laboratory space. Affiliated research facilities include:

- National Fruit and Cucurbits Improvement Center
