The Animal Husbandry and Green Agriculture Research Institute of Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS) was established in November 2006. In November 2011, it was renamed the Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences Agricultural Quality Standard and Testing Technology Research Institute. The Institute is a comprehensive scientific research institution integrating animal husbandry, grass industry, green agriculture, and agricultural product quality and safety research.
The Institute operates seven professional research laboratories, including those focused on animal genetic breeding and reproduction, animal nutrition and feed, forage breeding and cultivation, green agriculture, agricultural product risk analysis, agricultural product nutritional function, and agricultural environmental evaluation. It employs 48 staff members.
The Institute has eight national scientific research platforms, one international cooperation platform, and five provincial scientific research platforms. These include the National Demonstration Base for Attracting Talents and Intelligence, the Lanzhou Technical Center for National Green Food (Green and High-quality Agricultural Products) Quality Standard Inspection and Testing, the Lanzhou Technical Center for National Agricultural Product Quality Specification Nutrition Function Evaluation, the National Famous, Special and New Agricultural Products Nutrition Quality Evaluation and Identification Institution, the National Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Science Popularization Base, the National Agricultural Product Geographical Indication Product Quality Identification and Testing Institution, the Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Risk Assessment Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (Lanzhou), the Organic Product Testing Institution, the Gansu Herbivorous Livestock Industry Innovation Engineering Research Center, the Jointly Built Laboratory for Ruminant Livestock and Roughage Resources Utilization, the Gansu International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Sustainable Development Research of Herbivorous Livestock, and the Gansu Quinoa Breeding and Cultivation Technology and Comprehensive Development Engineering Research Center.
The Institute provides testing technical services, including determining pesticide and veterinary drug residues, nutritional quality, processing quality, trace elements, heavy metals, illegal additives, and mycotoxins in agricultural and livestock products and forage. It also tests parameters such as total nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, organic matter, and microorganisms in fertilizers, as well as pesticide residues, trace elements, physical and chemical indicators, and heavy metals in water, ambient air, and soil quality indicators.
