The CIMMYT–China Specialty Maize Research Center (CCSMRC) was established in 2018 through a partnership between the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). This collaboration is focused on strengthening the research efforts between the two institutions. The primary research objectives of the center include the improvement of specialty maize germplasm and the development of elite hybrid varieties. Additionally, the center is dedicated to genetic and genomic research on the nutritional quality of maize, along with enhancing its resilience to both biotic and abiotic stresses.
