The College of Agriculture and Biotechnology (CAB) at Zhejiang University was established in July 1999, following the 1998 merger of four universities in Hangzhou. It brought together the departments of Agronomy, Plant Protection, Horticulture, and Tea Science, along with the institutes of Nuclear-Agricultural Science and Biotechnology and the Experimental Farm from the former Zhejiang Agricultural University. As one of the university’s 20 pioneer colleges, CAB now includes five departments: Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Protection, Tea Science, and Applied Biological Science.
Under these departments, nine research institutes have been established, focusing on areas such as Crop Science, Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Landscape Architecture, Biotechnology, Insect Science, Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology, Tea Science, and Nuclear-Agricultural Science. The college has 225 faculty members, including 100 professors and 74 associate professors. It currently enrolls 1,958 full-time students, consisting of 853 undergraduates, 637 master’s students, 468 doctoral candidates, and 92 international students.
