The College of Animal Science and Technology at Sichuan Agricultural University (SAU) was established in 1993. It includes the Department of Animal Science, the Department of Aquaculture, the Animal Genetic Breeding Research Center, the Laboratory and Base Management Center, and the Rural Revitalization Service Center. The college has 105 faculty members and hosts several key research and teaching platforms, including a National Animal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, a National Pig Technology Innovation Center, and four provincial and ministerial key laboratories.
The Ya’an Teaching and Research Park serves as a major resource for practical education and research, featuring a livestock and poultry teaching and research park and an aquatic biology teaching and research area. It has 30,000 square meters of livestock and poultry breeding enclosures and over 180 open-air and indoor aquatic breeding ponds of various sizes. The college has successfully developed new breeds, including the Tianfu meat pig, Tianfu meat goose, Tianfu meat chicken, Tianfu black rabbit, Tianfu Nonghua duck, and Tianfu black pig.
The college maintains long-term academic exchange relations with more than 10 countries and regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, and Denmark. Over the past five years, the college has undertaken more than 10 international cooperation projects and conducted over 100 collaborative exchanges.
