College of Engineering

The College of Engineering at South China Agricultural University (SCAU) traces its origins to the Agricultural Mechanization Teaching and Research Office established in 1958. It is composed of the Agricultural Engineering Department and the Mechanical Engineering Department, with 133 faculty and staff members, including 110 full-time teachers. The college hosts several key research and innovation platforms, such as the National Key Laboratory of Agricultural Equipment Technology, the International Joint Research Center of Precision Agricultural Aerospace Application Technology, and the Innovative Intellectual Base for Precision Agricultural Aerospace Application Technology Research.

It also houses the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of Southern China for Key Technology of Agricultural Machines and Equipment, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) for Hydroponic Agricultural Equipment Technology, and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology Joint Laboratory of International Agricultural Aviation Application Technology. The college specializes in rice production machinery and equipment, production machinery for crops in Southern China, and the applied technologies of agricultural aviation and precision agriculture.

The college offers 8 undergraduate majors: Agricultural Mechanization and Automation, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation, Vehicle Engineering, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Robotics Engineering, Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering, and Automation.

It maintains strong international cooperation with universities and research institutions worldwide, including Harper Adams University, Cardiff University, and the University of Dundee in the UK; Washington State University, Mississippi State University, and the University of Kentucky in the US; McGill University and the University of Manitoba in Canada; and several institutions in France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore.
