College of Forestry and Landscape Architecture

The College of Forestry and Landscape Architecture at South China Agricultural University (SCAU), formerly known as the College of Forestry, is one of the university’s earliest-established colleges. It offers doctoral programs in forestry and landscape architecture, as well as master’s programs in forestry and herbology, with areas of focus including forest genetic breeding, forest cultivation, forest management, forest protection, forest ecology, wildlife protection and utilization, garden plants, and ornamental horticulture. The college also provides master’s programs in forestry, agronomy, seed industry, and landscape architecture.

Nine undergraduate majors are available, covering fields such as forestry, landscape architecture, gardening, urban and rural planning, forest protection, tourism management, grass science, traditional Chinese medicine resources and development, and wildlife and nature reserve management. The college has established an international class in landscape architecture in collaboration with the University of Newcastle, Australia, and offers a rural revitalization focus within its urban and rural planning program.

The college is home to several key research facilities, including the State Key Laboratory of Utilization and Protection of Subtropical Agricultural Biological Resources, the Guangdong Key Laboratory of Innovation and Utilization of Forest Plant Germplasm, and the Guangdong Nature Reserve Research Center. It has 161 faculty members, including 24 professors and 80 associate professors, with a student body of 2,847, of whom 2,078 are undergraduates.
