The College of Plant Protection at Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) has a long history, tracing its origins to the Plant Pathology discipline of Sanjiang Normal College, established in 1902. The college’s Plant Protection discipline is recognized as a national key discipline, comprising three key sub-disciplines: Plant Pathology, Pest Control, and Pesticide Science. It also hosts a postdoctoral research center, offers PhD and master’s degrees in three sub-disciplines, and has one sub-discipline granting a bachelor’s degree.
The college is home to four national and provincial key laboratories and two training centers, including the Key Laboratory of Integrated Management of Crop Diseases and Pests (Ministry of Education), the Key Laboratory of Integrated Pest Management in Crops in Eastern China (Ministry of Agriculture), the National Joint Engineering Research Center for Green Pesticide Creation and Application Technology, and the Pesticide Science Key Laboratory (Jiangsu Province), as well as the Pest Detection and Pest Management Centers (Ministry of Agriculture).
The college has 128 full-time staff members, including 88 faculty members, 44 full professors, and 31 associate professors. Each year, the college enrolls approximately 1,100 students, including 500 undergraduates.
The college actively engages in international collaboration, maintaining long-term cooperative programs with leading universities and research institutes worldwide, including institutions in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, and Canada.
