The Institute of Crop Research at the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) focuses on applied research while also considering basic research. It mainly engages in the study of germplasm resources, genetic breeding, and cultivation of rice, wheat, maize, oilseed rape, potatoes, beans, and other grain and oil crops. The institute employs 103 people and features 8 research centers and 16 research platforms, including the Sichuan Key Laboratory of Germplasm Resource Innovation and Genetic Improvement of Cereals and Oil Crops, the Key Laboratory of Wheat Biology and Genetic Breeding in the Southwest Region of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Chengdu Sub-center of National Corn Improvement, among others. The institute maintains cooperative relationships with 27 countries and 6 international scientific and technological organizations.
