The Department of Animal Science and Technology at Zhejiang University has been enrolling students since 1960. It offers doctoral programs in animal husbandry science, animal nutrition and feeding science, animal breeding and reproduction, and animal food science, as well as master’s programs in animal nutrition and feeding science, animal hereditary breeding and reproduction, and animal food science. Additionally, it has a postdoctoral research station in animal science.
The department provides a four-year undergraduate program in animal science, leading to a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. The curriculum integrates foundational courses in animal biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and other life sciences with specialized studies in animal breeding and genetics, nutrition, physiology, behavior, and management.
Research within the department focuses on key areas through the Animal Nutrition Institute, including feed resource evaluation and utilization, feed additives, domestic animal nutrition requirements, and animal production system management.
