The Economic Crops Research Institute is a subsidiary of the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS). The institute focuses its research on a variety of economic crops, including oilseeds (such as peanuts, sesame, and sunflower), soybeans, potatoes (including potatoes, cassava, sweet potatoes, Chinese yam, dry root, and kudzu), hemp (such as ramie, red hemp, jute, and flax), as well as taro, herbs, rosehips, and other specialty cash crops. It also conducts research on milling technology and other cultivation techniques.
