The Flower Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS) was established in October 2011. The institute focuses on research related to the collection and preservation of germplasm resources for ornamental plants, including orchids, jasmine, camellia, endive, begonia, anemone, water lily, and others. Its work includes the introduction and cultivation of ornamental plants, appraisal and evaluation, germplasm innovation, breeding, developmental mechanisms, genetic breeding, biotechnology, and cultivation technology.
In addition to its core research areas, the institute is also involved in planning and consulting related to leisure agriculture, landscape design, science education, and the promotion of new flower varieties, new technologies, and the transformation of research results. The institute employs a total of 52 people.
