The Guangxi Crop Genetic Improvement and Biotechnology Laboratory is a division-level scientific research institution under the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It holds several prestigious titles, including being a “postdoctoral research station” approved by the Ministry of Personnel of the People’s Republic of China, an “international cooperation” demonstration base granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and a “Guangxi Science and Technology Golden Source Unit” recognized by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The laboratory specializes in three primary research directions: genetic improvement of traits in characteristic fruits (such as passion fruit, grapes, lychee, and longan), molecular design and breeding of high-quality and disease-resistant rice, and the innovative utilization of Chinese herbal medicine resources. The laboratory is divided into seven research teams working on these areas.
Currently, the laboratory has 33 employees.
