Guangxi South Asia Subtropical Agriculture Research Institute

The Guangxi South Asia Subtropical Agricultural Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS) was founded in 1954. The institute is primarily focused on the introduction, trial, breeding, and cultivation of tropical and subtropical crops such as macadamia nuts, sugarcane, tea, egg yolk fruits, oleander, avocado, and cassava. It also conducts research on agricultural products processing, provides technical services, and engages in the popularization of science and technology education.

Covering an area of 2,600 hectares, the institute includes platforms such as the National Agricultural Science Longzhou Observation and Experiment Station and the MARA Longzhou Tropical Crops Scientific Observation and Experiment Station. It has a tropical and subtropical economic plant germplasm resources nursery and has collected and preserved more than 6,700 germplasm resources.

The institute is composed of 8 scientific research centers and has established 13 scientific research teams, 2 industrial science and technology vanguard teams, and 5 industrial science and technology service groups. With 245 employees, the institute actively promotes the construction of scientific and technological demonstration bases and collaborates with over 100 cities, counties, universities, and enterprises. It has established more than 100 planting scientific and technological demonstration bases and technological demonstration sites across the region, providing substantial scientific and technological support for the development of the agricultural and rural economy and the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy.
