The Hunan Institute of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Zoning at the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (HUNAAS) was founded in 1979. The institute is home to four research laboratories focusing on Agricultural Resource Economy, Agricultural Industrial Economy, Agricultural Ecological Economy, and Agricultural Regional Economy. It also has three functional sections: the Science and Technology Section, the Office, and the Finance Office. As of September 2023, the institute employs 41 people.
The research institute’s primary focus is to serve the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, particularly in the context of rural revitalization. It undertakes agricultural research projects for government departments at all levels and provides policy recommendations, decision-making consulting, and planning services. Its research covers agricultural policies, agricultural economy, rural development, agricultural zoning, land and resources, and agricultural planning. Additionally, the institute offers agricultural consulting, including project proposals, feasibility studies, and evaluations, with a special focus on modern agricultural technology.
