The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Academy of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Sciences – 内蒙古自治区农牧业科学院 specializes in agricultural and animal husbandry scientific research under the regional people’s government. The academy currently has 15 specialized research institutes, focusing on areas such as planting, breeding, grassland management, ecology, agricultural and livestock product quality and safety, and agricultural and animal husbandry economics.
The total number of authorized personnel at the academy is 1,035, including 246 senior professionals and 169 with doctoral degrees. The academy’s research fields include conservation tillage, miscellaneous grains and beans, sugar beet, sunflower, meat and jersey goats, saline and alkaline land management, ruminant nutrition, barley, wheat, maize, cold vegetables, dry farming, dry pasture grass, and quality testing and early warning of agricultural and livestock products. The academy operates 14 international cooperation platforms, such as the National International Science and Technology Cooperation Base and the National Demonstration Base for Attracting Talents and Intelligence. It also manages 23 national and ministerial research platforms, including the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and 30 autonomous region-level innovation platforms, including the Key Laboratory of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Demonstration zones for the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements have been established in 11 leagues and cities, covering 80 banner counties. The academy has promoted more than 100 new varieties and 200 new technologies, while also training over 50,000 technicians, farmers, and herders. These efforts provide crucial scientific and technological support for the high-quality development of the region’s agriculture and animal husbandry industries.
The academy has formed extensive scientific and technological collaborations with 25 domestic research institutes, universities, and colleges, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It also partners with 16 international universities and research institutions from countries such as Australia, Mongolia, and Russia. Furthermore, the academy co-founded the Inner Mongolia Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, which includes 44 national and regional agricultural research institutes, universities, and enterprises. This alliance seeks to strengthen collaborative research and promote agricultural and animal husbandry innovation within the autonomous region. The academy is also involved in several innovation alliances, including the Northeast Regional Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, the Northwest Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, and the Yellow River Basin Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development Agricultural Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Alliance.
