The Institute of Advanced Agricultural Sciences (IAAS) at Peking University is a newly established research unit jointly created by Shandong Province and Peking University. Located in the Xiashan Ecological and Economic Development Zone in Weifang City, the institute was completed and became operational in July 2021.

The institute focuses on cutting-edge research in agricultural science and technology and has established six major technology support platforms, including one for crop genetics and germplasm innovation, along with 38 independent research groups. It is equipped with over 4,000 advanced instruments, including cryo-electron microscopes, mass spectrometers, and confocal microscopes. Its research infrastructure includes a 5,000-square-meter environment-controlled greenhouse, a 10,000-square-meter plastic house, and over 1,000 mu of experimental fields. The institute has attracted more than 700 research personnel.
