Institute of Agricultural Economics and Technology

The Institute of Agricultural Economics and Technology of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences was founded in August 1986. The institute currently operates with five research departments: the Agricultural Economics Research Office, the Agricultural Informatization Research Office, the Agricultural Planning and Design Research Office, the Agricultural Intellectual Property Research Office (Science and Technology Journal Society), and the Agricultural Library and Intelligence Research Office (Library).

The institute’s research is primarily focused on rural development strategies and policies, modern agriculture and regional agricultural development, agricultural science and technology development and industrialization, agricultural technology economics, and agricultural informatization. It organizes and undertakes agricultural park planning, agricultural industry development planning, and feasibility studies for agricultural projects. These initiatives aim to provide consulting and decision-making references for the provincial party committee, provincial government, and other relevant departments regarding the formulation of agricultural and rural development strategies and policies.

In addition to policy research, the institute also conducts selenium-enriched agricultural product research and demonstration of standardization technology. The institute is responsible for constructing national agricultural database resources and providing agricultural science and technology research and retrieval services within the province. It collects, organizes, processes, utilizes, and preserves a wide range of agricultural science and technology books and literature, providing a comprehensive network information-sharing platform.

The institute is also involved in the publication of various scientific journals, including Hubei Agricultural Science, South Central Agricultural Science and Technology, and Agricultural Industrialization, which support the scientific and technological development of the rural economy, society, and environment in Hubei Province. The institute employs 58 staff members.
