The Institute of Agricultural Products Quality Safety and Testing Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS) was established in 2012. It specializes in the development of quality and safety technology for the entire process of agricultural products, including pre-production, in-production, and post-production stages. The institute focuses on monitoring and controlling agricultural product quality and safety, conducting testing and risk assessments, and formulating standards and procedures for agricultural product quality and safety. It also provides demonstration of technology and scientific and technological services.
The institute employs 34 people and has four research teams focused on the risk assessment of agricultural product quality and safety, agricultural origin and input safety research, pesticide safety evaluation, and agricultural products and food nutrition research. Their work involves the safety evaluation of pesticide use on Guangxi specialty crops, the development of new detection technologies, and risk assessments related to agricultural product quality and safety. The institute also handles research and special monitoring tasks related to agricultural product quality and safety assigned by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and the autonomous region.
The institute is equipped with 2520 square meters of scientific research and testing laboratories, housing more than 180 major instruments. It is also accredited to independently undertake third-party impartial inspections and issue reports such as the Certificate of Conformity (CATL) and the Certificate of Accreditation of Inspection and Testing Organization (CMA), issued by both the China National Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) and the Guangxi Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.
