Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment

The Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS) was founded in 1935. Its predecessor was the Guangxi Agricultural Experiment Station within the laboratory group. The institute is mainly engaged in research related to plant nutrition and crop fertilizers, soil resource utilization, soil improvement and ecological environment restoration, soil pollution prevention and control, and the development of new types of fertilizers. The institute also promotes scientific research results and provides technical services.

The institute operates several key scientific research platforms, including the National Agricultural Environment Nanning Observation and Experiment Station, the Guangxi Nanning Station of the National Ecological Quality Comprehensive Monitoring Station (farmland), the South China Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Technology Scientific Observation and Experiment Station under MARA, the Nanning Comprehensive Experiment Station of the National Green Fertilizer Industry Technology System, the Guangxi Key Laboratory of Cultivated Land Conservation, the Guangxi Selenium-enriched Agricultural Research Center, the Guangxi Plant Pollution Phytoremediation and Amelioration Technology Engineering Research Center, the Guangxi Plant Nutrition Technology Innovation Center, and several other research bases.

The institute has established close cooperation with several renowned scientific research institutes and universities, including the Canadian Phosphorus and Potash Research Institute, the U.S. Sulfur Research Institute, the University of Illinois, the International Fertilizer Development Center (USA), the International Fertilizer Institute (France), the International Potash Institute (Switzerland), the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Hokkaido University (Japan), and the National Institute of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos.
