The Institute of Agricultural Resources and Environment at the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) employs 70 people and operates seven research centers: Soil and Tillage Research Center (Land Resource and Regional Development Research Center), Agricultural Environment Research Center, Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer Research Center, Water-saving Agriculture and Disaster Prevention and Control Research Center, Forage and Green Fertilizer Research Center, Analytical Testing Research Center, and Green and Low-carbon Agriculture and Environmental Microbiology Research Center. The institute also houses a National Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, a Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture, a Scientific Observatory of Key Discipline Groups, and an Engineering Center of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
Its research and application focus on soil health, environmental microorganisms, plant nutrition and new fertilizers, agricultural water conservation, intelligent equipment, sustainable agricultural resource use, environmental protection, ecological restoration, green and low-carbon technologies, forage green manure, and cultivation. The institute also provides domestic and international cooperation, personnel training, technical services, scientific popularization, resource surveys, crop cultivation, inspection, testing, and ecological environment monitoring and evaluation.
