The Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology Information, also known as the Institute of Economics, is a scientific research institution focused on agricultural information technology, soft science research, documentation, and information services. It specializes in eight key disciplines: agricultural information technology, agricultural and industrial economics, information management and services, ASEAN agriculture, agricultural remote sensing applications, agricultural science and technology publications, agricultural planning and engineering design, and rural revitalization.
The institute consists of multiple research offices, including the Agricultural and Rural Development Research Office, ASEAN Agricultural Research Office, Agricultural Big Data Research Office, Agricultural Remote Sensing Research Office, Digital Agricultural Research Office, Science and Technology Publication and Media Center, and the Documentation and Information Service Center. It holds recognition for searching and researching new information from MARA and the Guangxi Science and Technology Department, and operates as a certified training base under the Guangxi Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department.
The institute has 82 employees.
In terms of agricultural information technology research, the Institute focuses on the development and demonstration of key technologies such as agricultural remote sensing, intelligent agriculture, and smart scientific research. It works on integrating modern technologies like the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and big data with the agricultural sector in Guangxi, fostering a deep cross-border fusion that contributes to the growth of modern agriculture in the region.
Regarding agricultural economic research, the institute explores agricultural industrial economics, modern agricultural development, agricultural science and technology policy, and rural revitalization strategies, offering high-quality decision-making and consulting services for government departments.
ASEAN Agricultural Research is a key area within the institute, aiming to enhance agricultural science and technology exchanges between China and ASEAN countries. It focuses on facilitating the international transfer of advantageous agricultural technologies in alignment with China’s national “One Belt, One Road” strategy.
The agricultural planning and engineering design team is responsible for planning and designing agricultural parks, science and technology parks, industrial development zones, modern agriculture demonstration zones, and idyllic garden complexes. They also conduct feasibility studies and provide consulting services for engineering projects.
