Institute of Agriultural Products Storage and Processing

The Institute of Agricultural Products Storage and Processing of Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS) was established in 2001. It focuses on the research and development of technologies for deep processing of agricultural products, post-harvest processing, storage and transportation preservation, and new product development. The Institute also works on the analysis, evaluation, and utilization of effective components of characteristic plant resources, and the integrated demonstration of modern storage and transportation engineering technology for agricultural products.

The Institute is equipped with several research and development platforms, including the “National Fruit Processing Technology Research and Development Sub-Center,” the “National Agricultural Products Processing Industry Early Warning Gansu Sub-Center,” the “Gansu Agricultural Waste Resource Utilization Engineering Laboratory,” and the “Gansu Fruit and Vegetable Storage and Processing Technology Innovation Center.” It has established three main research areas: agricultural product processing, agricultural product storage and preservation, and modern storage and transportation pilot projects.

The Institute operates five research laboratories: fruit and vegetable processing, potato storage and processing, fruit and vegetable storage and preservation and cold chain logistics, food nutrition and resource utilization, and livestock product processing. Additionally, it has seven pilot workshops covering areas such as fruit and vegetable processing, biological fermentation, post-harvest processing, storage and preservation, fruit and vegetable solar dehydration, livestock product processing, and potato staple food processing. These facilities span an area of 4,793 square meters and are equipped with over 200 related test instruments and equipment. The Institute employs 37 staff members.
