The Institute of Agro-Products Processing Science and Technology of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GXAAS) was established in December 2008. It is a provincial scientific research institution specializing in the research and technology development of agricultural products processing in Guangxi. The institute primarily focuses on agricultural product storage and preservation, deep processing, the comprehensive utilization of agricultural waste, and the development of related quality standards and control systems.
The institute has 36 employees and includes a number of scientific research platforms, such as the National Mango Preservation and Processing Technology Research and Development Center, the MARA Subtropical Fruit Storage and Processing Technology Research and Experimental Base, the National Banana Industry Technology System Processing Function Research Room, Guangxi Agricultural Biological Preservation and Logistics and Processing of Eight Gui Scholars Position, Guangxi Fruit and Vegetable Storage and Processing New Technology Key Laboratory, China-Vietnam Agricultural Storage and Processing Joint Laboratory, Guangxi Banana Preservation and Processing Engineering Technology Support Program, and others. In total, the institute is associated with 30 scientific research platforms.
In recent years, the institute has developed several new products, including biological preservatives for citrus, banana, longan, lychee, and other subtropical fruits; nano preservation bags; fruit wines, fruit vinegar, and fruit juices made from a variety of fruits; functional foods like selenium-enriched rice flour, walnut milk beverages, and cassava juice; and feed products like full-price pellet feed for sheep and cattle. The institute has also developed new equipment, such as a cross-border air-conditioned cold chain transportation truck, a solar-heat pump combined drying system, and several devices for harvesting and processing agricultural products.
