The Institute of Digital Agriculture at Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ZAAS) is one of the earliest institutions in the country dedicated to both basic and applied research in digital agricultural technology innovation, with the aim of building a digital countryside. It focuses primarily on the R&D of digital agricultural technologies, digital agriculture, and the construction of rural information platforms, supporting and empowering modern agricultural development through digital solutions. The institute aims to address key needs in digital, targeted, and smart agricultural development with advancements in big data, agricultural Internet of Things (IoT), and AI applications in agriculture.
With its five disciplinary areas, one center, and platform, the institute works on research to enhance the precision and intelligence of agricultural production management. It has developed several digital platforms for new cultivar breeding and optimized agri-input usage, along with new technologies and systems for smart fertilization, information collection and traceability in smart orchards, drones and remote sensing, and modern smart factories for crops like forage grass, strawberry, and seedlings. These technologies have been widely applied in aerospace, military, and various other sectors. The institute has 28 staff members.
