The Institute of Plant Protection of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences conducts technical research on the occurrence, development patterns, and green control of major diseases, insects, and weeds affecting economic crops such as grains, oilseeds, fruit trees, vegetables, Chinese medicinal materials, and gardens. The institute also focuses on pest and disease detection and control, molecular biology research on insect resistance, identification of disease resistance in crop varieties, and antigen screening. It is involved in the research, development, demonstration, and promotion of high-efficiency, low-toxicity, low-residue, and biological pesticides, along with plant protection and pest and disease control.
Additionally, the institute provides pesticide safety and practical technical consultation, training, and services. It undertakes provincial pesticide product quality supervision, inspection, and testing, and carries out MARA pesticide registration tests (efficacy and residues). The institute also conducts research and detection of pesticide residues, biological toxins, and heavy metals in agricultural products.
