The Department of Sericulture and Apiculture at Zhejiang University was established in 2005, building on the Silkworm Study Department founded in 1987 and the Department of Sericulture established in 1927. The department currently has 10 faculty members, including 5 professors qualified to supervise PhD students, and it welcomes foreign students and visiting scholars.
The department conducts both basic and applied research, focusing on three main areas: germplasm and molecular breeding, biological function and disease control, and genetic engineering and the development of new products.
