The New Rural Development Institute (NRDI) at Peking University was established in 2018 as a high-level, multidisciplinary national think tank affiliated with the School of Advanced Agricultural Sciences (SAAS). NRDI focuses on accelerating agricultural modernization, promoting rural revitalization, and achieving rapid, inclusive, and sustainable rural transformation.
NRDI conducts basic, forward-looking, and systematic strategic research and provides consulting services to both public and private stakeholders. It aims to establish itself as a high-end think tank for guiding agricultural and rural development policies. In addition to contributing to China’s rural transformation, NRDI works to share China’s successful rural development experiences with other developing countries in Asia and Africa, generating policy insights and strengthening China’s global influence in agriculture and rural development.
