The Plant Protection Institute of Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS) was established in 1958. It primarily serves the province’s plant protection and pollution-free agricultural development, focusing on crop pest and disease prediction, pest control technology research, crop pest and disease resistance identification, new pesticide research and development, pesticide registration testing, talent training, technology demonstration, achievement transformation, and scientific and technological services.
The Institute houses several specialized laboratories, including the Wheat Crop Pest and Disease Control and Ecological Regulation Laboratory, the Agricultural Insect and Mite Laboratory, the Pesticide and Weed Laboratory, the Biological Control and Alien Invasive Organisms Laboratory, the Economic Crop Disease Laboratory, the Corn and Grain Crop Disease Laboratory, and an Insect Specimen Room. Additionally, the Institute operates two experimental stations located in Gangu and Yuzhong. The Institute currently employs 49 staff members.
