The Rice Research Institute of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences was established in 1978. It covers an area of more than 133.33 hectares, including over 13.33 hectares of experimental fields. The institute also manages more than 40 hectares of experimental demonstration bases in Sanya, Hainan, and Xingyi, Guizhou. There are 68 employees at the institute.
The institute has several research departments, including the Hybrid Advantage Utilization Research Department, Molecular Breeding Research Room, Cultivation Physiology Research Room, and a Comprehensive Research Room. The institute also houses the Guizhou Rice Engineering Technology Center, the Guizhou Province Dual-Use Nuclear Sterility Ecological Identification Center, and other pilot bases and service platforms.
