The School of Agriculture and Biology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) – 上海交通大学农业与生物学院 was founded in 1959 as the former Shanghai Agricultural College and was incorporated into SJTU in 1999. In March 2003, it was officially renamed as the School of Agriculture and Biology. The school consists of five departments: the Department of Plant Science, Department of Animal Science, Department of Resources and Environment, Department of Food Science and Engineering, and Department of Landscape Architecture. It is also home to several academic and research centers, supporting interdisciplinary studies and innovation.
With 183 faculty members, the school offers comprehensive programs and research in various agricultural and biological sciences. It maintains strong international partnerships, with cooperation agreements in place with prominent universities, including Cornell University, Rutgers University (The State University of New Jersey), California State Polytechnic University, the University of California at Davis, the University of Nottingham (UK), and Chiba University (Japan). These collaborations involve exchange programs for teachers and students, joint research projects, and educational initiatives.
