The Sichuan Agricultural Machinery Science Research Institute was founded in 1960. It specializes in agricultural mechanization, informatization, and agricultural engineering. As the largest agricultural machinery research institution in Southwest China, it serves as an important base for agricultural machinery scientific and technological innovation and new product development. The institute is located in Jinjiang District and Xindu District, employing 132 staff members. It consists of 7 research centers and 4 functional departments, focusing on basic research and the promotion of agricultural mechanization and engineering technology. Its areas of expertise include cold chain equipment, agricultural product drying, electromechanical irrigation engineering, agricultural smart irrigation, and the comprehensive utilization of solar energy.
The institute has established two national scientific research platforms: the Key Laboratory of Hilly and Mountain Agricultural Equipment Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and the Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Chengdu) for Agricultural Products Processing Machinery and Equipment, also under MARA. Additionally, the institute manages the Sichuan Provincial Quality Supervision and Inspection Station for Pumps and General Equipment Products, the Solar Agriculture Water-Saving Irrigation Sichuan Engineering Laboratory, and the Sichuan Drying Cold Chain Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center.
